The Age of Critics

It seems that life now requires a certain concentration of efforts, gone are the days of the Renaissance man, one to whom all was science and everything possibility, where a moment of study made one a student, today is the age of the critic. He will tell you of your failings and make clear your ignorance. Thus to ward off this hidden predator of the curious and uninformed one must devote themselves in to whatever we wish to enjoy. For without the devotion of the devoutest monk, how can we say we love art, nature, a pursuit or thought, for of course our simple minds are entertained by such mysteries and delights, but who are we to say we know of them? We are "We" and We are damn well allowed to love the unknown, to delight in the confusing and to share what little we do know without fear of retribution for our insolence!
